Laboratory/Pathology

Dallas County Medical Center laboratory provides an extended menu of laboratory testing that focuses on the clinical diagnostic needs of our patients.

Most medical diagnosis depend heavily on lab work. The lab provides approximately 70-80% of the diagnostic data used for accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment. Lab reports outline their findings and when abnormalities are present, doctors have the final say in making a diagnosis. The data from the lab is vital in determining the appropriate treatment care plan.

These services include:

Chemistry
Hematology
Serology
Urinalysis
Microbiology
Blood Bank

These services are provided by skilled, trained technologists and technicians under the direction of a consulting pathologist. Any testing that we do not provide in-house can be sent to our reference laboratory.

DCMC Lab is available 24 hours a day for emergency room and inpatient services and provides outpatient testing during the hours of 7:00am to 6:00pm.

All testing must be ordered by your healthcare provider, so please bring a copy of your doctors order with you. Upon arrival at the hospital, you will need to go to the Admissions office before coming to the lab. Some lab tests require that you are fasting prior to having your blood drawn, so ask your doctor if this is necessary. If you have any questions concerning your tests, you can contact the lab at 870-352-6347. After your testing is complete, we will refer you to our medical records department or your doctor for copies of your lab reports and their interpretation.
